Cityscapes

In the Cityscapes, I represent recognizable places in iconic cities. I am interested in landmarks, squares and streets that belong to a shared visual heritage, often familiar even to those who have never seen them in person.

The contrast I look for is the one between the universal image of the city and the everyday life that continues around it. Florence, Rome or Venice are known all over the world, but they remain real places too, made of habits, routines and ordinary gestures.

The city also becomes a space of social psychology, shaped by the way people move through it, share it and experience the environment around them.

Human figures do not always appear in my cityscapes. Sometimes the starting point is a composition, a reflection, an unusual perspective or a detail that makes a place feel familiar in a different way.

The Cityscapes come from this tension between collective memory and everyday life. They represent places that seem to belong to everyone, but that each person moves through with their own gaze, their own routine and their own experience.

Ah Ah Ah! Non hai detto la parola magica!
