The work depicts Piazzale degli Uffizi looking toward the Lungarno, one of the busiest and most recognizable places in Florence.

I was interested in representing a crowded place, full of tourists and residents. Everything is framed by the arch of the Uffizi, opening toward the Arno and revealing the buildings of Lungarno Torrigiani on the opposite bank.

I chose a light close to sunset because I wanted to suggest a Florence that, after a day of tourism, work, and confusion, seems for a moment to move toward calm.
