Pixel Lennon is the first portrait I created for this series.
I chose John Lennon because his public image is connected to a few very strong visual elements. He was the right subject to start from, precisely because the portrait could be simplified almost to the point of losing its details, while still remaining recognizable.
I wanted to understand whether it was possible to build a portrait made of hand-drawn and hand-coloured pixels without completely losing the likeness and the strength of the image. Before reaching the final result, I made several attempts that did not work. When I finally completed Pixel Lennon, I realized that the series could exist.
Without this work, the other Pixel artworks would probably never have existed.
